. Last chance to register for the Mediamatic Mobtagging workshop, 15 and 16 February! Reduced Price: EUR 200,- Four great speakers (see below) present, analyse and discuss the current practice and impact of social tagging, or Mobtagging. The world wide web turns into a social sphere, and social tagging is one of the key expontents of this development. It allows web users to specify, index, search and especially share information on their own terms. In this 2-day workshop we will explore the inner workings and social effects of Mobtagging, and look into the changing relation between users and information from the physical and the virtual world. Drawing on the expertise of the spreakers, participants will develop social tagging scenario's that combine the latest ideas and tools. * Jyri Engström (FI) (designer and co-founder of Aula, Helsinki's innovative media society) will discuss why some social network services work and others don't (or: why only people are not enough for a social network). * Andy Smith (USA) (co-developer of Flock, The Social Browser) presents the latest version of Flock, the browser that includes social tagging in its core browser functionality. * Duncan Speakman (UK) (videoartist and organisor of the first european conference on videoblogging) will discuss social tagging and RSS as the engines of videoblogging. * Ulla-Maaria Mutanen (FI) (inventor of the ThingLink and industrial designer) will go into the cultural functions of metadata, databases, unique identifiers and ThingLinks.
