The White House, in conjunction with the
Straight Out Of
Brisbane Festival (SOOB), is excited to announce that New
York's most outlandish and subversive media artist -
Kenneth Tin-Kin
Hung - will be making his Australian debut at The White House with
his
'Global Presidential Election' exhibition during the
Straight Out Of Brisbane festival.
Kenneth Hung, New York-based artist and designer, has gained massive
international notoriety from his web art project,
60x1.com, which
has culminated over 30 million hits since its debut. Hung's cheeky,
politically-charged mischief spans the media of interactive web
installation, video, sound and performance. He has exhibited prolifically
in his own country as well as the UK Italy, France, Switzerland and
Germany.
Kenneth Hung occupies The White House to unleash his intoxicated and
satirical visions on Brisbane. Hung's hyperactive prints and video
explode with surprising calculation to parody, mimic and pervert the
visual traditions of advertising and propaganda. A psychedelic blurring
of sex, politics and consumer culture – there is a sinister omen lurking
behind the humorous, super-shiny veneer of Hung's work: a vision of a
world slowly eating itself. This psycho-political wonderland will spawn
live performances of warped personas such as Ronald MaoDonald and Jesus
Bin Laden. At once beautiful and garish, frightening and hilarious,
