The interdisciplinary, post-graduate masters course MediaArchitecture at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, starts up again at semester 2008/2009. The course is a response to ongoing structural changes in society and the increasing importance of the reciprocal influence of media and architecture. MediaArchitecture aims to explore and develop the growing overlap between architectonic and medial space for study and research, as well as for new potential professional fields of work. Based on the increasing medialisation of public space and everyday culture the master´s course is not lastly a reaction to the ever higher demand for highly-qualified university graduates in the interdisciplinary area between media and architecture. The study course is a cooperation between the Faculties of Media and Architecture. Students will find the elective possibility between a more theoretical and design-practical orientation. The postgraduate degree programme is aimed at architecture and media studies graduates as well as graduates of related disciplines of a scientific and/or artistic-creative nature (Bachelors, Masters or „Diplom“). Successful graduates are awarded the academic degree of Master of Science (MSc). The qualification is well-suited for future work in a variety of disciplines including architectural environments, trade fair and event architecture, film architecture, staging techniques, urban planning, engineering, intelligent orientation systems and the diverse disciplines involved in the representation of knowledge, image and products. There are no tuition fees associated with this program. The deadline for application is the 31st August.
