<nettime-ann> Symposium PROHIBITED FILMS 9 - 10 September 2010, Deutsche Kinemathek Berlin |
. Symposium PROHIBITED FILMS 9 - 10 September 2010 at the Deutsche Kinemathek, Berlin A feature film is banned because it - allegedly or actually - violates the law. A planned documentary is never realized because a legal advisor warns of possible law suits that would pose too great a financial risk. At the same time, certain films that are prohibited under the current law can be watched around the globe. These three scenarios constitute different aspects of a common overarching topic. The symposium “Prohibited Films” will serve as a forum to discuss the various legal restrictions that apply to films, and examine the impact that these restrictions have on film production, distribution and reception.
