Veranstaltungen am letzten Wochenende der Ausstellung
[macro]biologies II: organisms

Kinder-Workshop mit Desiree Förster (auf
deutsch), Alter: 8-12 Jahre (bitte anmelden: k.hergouth@artlaboratory-berlin.org).
Der Workshop wird
Kinder im Alter von acht bis zwölf Jahren einladen, sich kreativ mit Kunst und
Natur auseinander zu setzen. Wir werden gemeinsam die Arbeiten der Ausstellung
erkunden, mit uns bekannten Bildern (aus Märchen, Biologieunterricht)
vergleichen und eigene Geschichten dazu entwickeln. Anschließend gibt es die
Möglichkeit, künstlerisch aktiv zu werden - Collagen, Zeichnungen, Gemälde
anzufertigen oder sich in Textform auszudrücken. Die Collagen werden während der
Finissage der Ausstellung am folgenden Tag präsentiert und können anschließend
mit nach Hause genommen werden.

Die junge slowenische Künstlerin Maja Smrekar
aus Ljubljana arbeitet an der Schnittstelle von Geistes- und
Naturwissenschaften mit dem Schwerpunkt Lebenskonzepte. 2012 schuf Smrekar
zusammen mit Wissenschaftlern von der Abteilung für Frischwasser und Ökosysteme
des Biogischen Instituts in Ljubljana, Slowenien, die komplexe Installation
Crustacea deleatur (eine Aksioma-Produktion). Sie basiert auf einer
interdisziplinären Studie der Künstlerin und untersucht das Problem invasiver
Spezies am Beispiel europäischer (einheimischer) und außereuropäischer
(tropischer und invasiver) Krebsarten. Für die Ausstellung bei Art Laboratory
Berlin hat Smrekar ihr Projekt weiterentwickelt und präsentiert die
Installation Crustacea deleatur in
veränderter Form als BioBASE: risky ZOOgraphies , dieses Mal
mit Marmorkrebsen (Procambarus fallax forma virginalis). Diese sind
asexuell ausgeprägt – ein Phänomen, das man Pathenogenesis nennt, dabei erfolgt
Wachstum und Entwicklung des Embryos ohne Befruchtung. Seit Frühling 2013
besteht ein intensiver Austausch zwischen Smrekar und Prof. Dr. Scholtz vom
Institut für Biologie (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin), einem der führenden
Spezialisten für Marmorkrebse weltweit.

Berlin cordially invites you to visit the events of the last weekend of the
exhibition [macro]biologies II: organisms:
Saturday 19 July, 2 - 4 PM
Children's Workshop with
Desiree Förster (in German) Ages 8- 12, free (with registration,
please confirm to k.hergouth@artlaboratory-berlin.org)
The workshop will enable
children between ages 8 and 12 the possibility to interact creatively with art
and nature. We will look at works by the artists in the exhibition as well as
well known images (from biology, fairy tales, etc) and redevelop common
questions about feelings, experiences and stories that fit. Afterwards there
will be the opportunity to be creatively active and to develop an individual
collage, drawing or painting, or develop an _expression_ in text form. The
collages will be shown during the finnisage of the exhibition on the following
day and can be taken home afterwards.

Artist talk with Maja Smrekar (in English), followed by finissage until 7
PM
Maja Smrekar is an emerging young artist from Ljubljana,
Slovenia, working at the intersection of humanities and natural sciences
with her main interest in the concept of life. In 2012, working together
with researchers from the Department for Freshwater and Land Ecosystems at the
National Institute of Biology in Ljubljana/Slovenia, Smrekar built the
installation Crustacea deleatur
(an Aksioma Production). This project explores the problem of invasive species,
for instance the interaction of European (indigenous) and non-European
(tropical, invasive) crayfish. For the exhibition at Art Laboratory Berlin
Smrekar has continued to develop this project and will present the installation
Crustacea deleatur
in a
different form as BioBase: risky ZOOgraphies focussing
on the marble crayfish (Procambarus fallax forma virginalis),
and its form of asexual reproduction in which growth and development of embryos
occur without fertilization, called parthenongenesis. Since the spring of 2013,
in this context, there has been an intensive exchange between Smrekar and Prof.
Dr. Scholtz from the Institute of Biology (Humboldt University of Berlin), one
of the leading specialists in the marble crayfish worldwide.
