Performance with Mourad Cherait, Nicolas Fernandez and Stephen Waddell ---------------------------------------------------------------- inSITEout Real and virtual projects in interior and public space - http://www.lothringer13.de/halle As artistic material, the internet has fed into the creative process of a new artistic generation. Pure net.art- projects are not the main focus here, however. Rather, the seven projects that make up this exhibition combine the non-material world of the internet with the material world of real life. Cross connections between virtual space (in particular, the WWW with its seemingly limitless access) and "real" Space (exhibition space, public space, urban space, etc.) are not visualized solely online, but also in the form of installations, performances, photography and video, etc. With their feedback into real space, these artistic strategies break open the systematic limitations of the internet as closed communication system. In the foreground of individual works stand notions of collective creativity, artistic networking, and the possibility of worldwide, culturally transcendent communication. The works investigate changes in conventional communication structures, and the influence that these changes have on artistic creation and the development of real and fictitious identities. Changes that the internet has brought about in everyday life, for example communication in virtual chatrooms, also play a central role. lothringer13/halle space for young art and new media Lothringer Str. 13 D - 81667 Munchen phone +49-89-4486961 fax +49-89-6886244 http://www.lothringer13.de/halle _______________________________________________ Nettime-bold mailing list Nettime-bold@nettime.org http://www.nettime.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nettime-bold
