[Nettime-bold] Design Call - WOOMERA2002 - Deadline Sep 3rd midnite |
(please feel free to forward - thanx) DESIGN TASK #1: LOGO for WOOMERA 2002 --------------------------------------------------------------- Deadline: Sept 3rd - Midnight [australian EST] This call is for designers to come up with a logo or graphic which symbolises the planned journey to Woomera in 2002, which is currently being planned by a small collective. The logo/graphic should be empowering and communicate active action opposing detention centres, missiles, nuclear weapons, toxic waste and supporting indiginous land rights, no borders and diversity... The logo/graphic should be positive and should connect with people who are not necessarily activists - but are concerned about the issues Woomera represents. Familiar/non-threatening imagery/iconography would be great! The logo/graphic can be in colour but should work in black/white also. What is being asked for is someone to come up with the equivalent of the 'jabiluka - hand' (http://www.sea-us.org.au/images/icons/handsoff.gif) equivalent for Woomera 2002 :-) The logo/graphic can have text associated with it - and the URL - www.woomera2002.com should be able to easily associated with it as well (though it does not have to be incorporated to the logo) Here's some ideas which an image should bring out: freedom, movement, caravan, journey, diversity... Please send your design to sam@media.com.au for consideration by the collective. The deadline for contributions is September 3rd (midnight), 2001. Please note that if your contribution is used it is most likely that you will never receive any recognition for it. There are no planned credits or acknowledgements and your contribution may be altered, edited, and basically changed by other designers... So, when submitting - please bare that in mind. But we do require visual communicators, so your contribution will certainly be valued and your work will be respected. Below is some more detail - some of more which can be found at www.woomera2002.com Woomera is a remote town, 500 kms from Adelaide (Australia). It is also the centre of an economy of death, suffering and incarceration founded on the dispossession of indigenous lands. Woomera can be represented by a concentration camp, by missiles, by nuclear weapons, by toxic waste, by colonisation, by capitalism, by fear and division. Woomera 2002 will be a kaleidoscope of cascading autonomous actions, media streams and screenings, workshops, discussions and happenings to disrupt the present and create the future. _______________________________________________ Nettime-bold mailing list Nettime-bold@nettime.org http://www.nettime.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nettime-bold
