few children this year,

almost all of them i knew.

and for the kids that had their orange boxes

i gave extra. 

i could see, even giving so much more to them, i still would have 

lots left over at the end of the night.

the kids and i seem to be waiting.

it reminds me of a time a few decades ago

when we, the little ones, were waiting to be awoken

by an explosion.

they don't express their questions.

but they want to know

what it is about

and when and how it will end.

as do we all.
