<nettime> cyberfascism in Italy? |
what is happening in Italy? Is the fascist instinct re-emerging in the italian life? Not exactly. Many scenographic details of Berlusconi' victory remind of Mussolini declaring the birth of the Empire, on May 9th 1936. But the word "fascism" does not explain what is happening. What we are witnessing is rather the conquest of the italian State by the Infomafia. Don't mind the old relationships with sicilian mafia-persons during the '70. The real problem is that Berlusconi uses money to buy power, and also uses power to make money. This is the basic foundation of mafia. Isn't it? The financial domination on the italian media landscape for two decades has created the conditions of a new form of power, deeply pervading the Infosphere.
