Alas, but as the mod squad have noted, people can eaily be turned into very dull and disspirited beings when they are compelled to follow unintelligent machinic routines. Writing for the test was never great; but imagine writing for the pseudo artificial-intelligence robot...
We believe this can't stand, that people will always break away, refuse a mind-numbing job, etc., and to some extent that's true. But those beliefs are also based on behavior in the 1960s, a time of full employment, when you could walk out of any job and find another. Compare that to today. The picture is wildly different. Let's all help each other out of the hard corners in the years to come...
