And what/who is Europe; what about Alfred Crosby's thesis of the Neo-Europes ?

Yes, yes, yes, but in reality it is not the EU that acts but your nice
homecountry itself. A good example is how Germany implemented the
copyright directives, DRM etc. Politicians blame the EU for something
that they want to do themselves and if they act via Brussels there is
little resistance. People in the home countries sleep deeply and are
confused. The EU parliament is confused etc anyway. It is not
representing the Europeans anyway. There is a big structural problem in
the EU in terms of democracy and it can get only worse. But what
consumers of goods can expect from the sellers is very good and the idea
that bad sellers disapear from the market is very good as well. If the
cars or whatever are broken the consumers get a lot of compensation etc
that they would not have gotten in Germany before. Not all capitalists
are the same.
