Onderzoek en ontwikkeling voor het permanente leerproces

Pabo's die geinteresseerd zijn in deelname aan de Gouden @penstaart,
kunnen zich aanmelden. Pedagogische academies zijn betrokken bij de
begeleiding van het jureringsproces van de beste cd-rom en website voor
kinderen van het jaar 2002. Voor de uitverkiezing van de Gouden
@penstaart trofee komen kinderjury's bijeen door het hele land.

Onderzoek en discussie over de rol van nieuwe technologie in de
samenleving

2       PR      Interfaces voor ouderen en E-Lab in Cyburg

Op 18 februari is in Amsterdam-Zeeburg een 'Digitale Broedplaats' van
start gegaan: Cyburg. Gebruiksvriendelijke interfaces voor ouderen is het
Waag project dat in Cyburg zal worden uitgevoerd. De definitiefase van
het project is van start gegaan in samenwerking met het Flevohuis.
Daarnaast is Waag Society betrokken bij de opzet van E-lab, een virtueel
centrum waar expertise van aanbieders samenkomt.

3       PR      Russische rondreis

Programmeur Ilya Nikanorov maakt in maart in opdracht van Waag
Society een fact finding tour langs initiatieven op het gebied van kunst,
cultuur en technologie in St. Petersburg en Moskou. Hij introduceert o.a.
de internationale database voor kleinschalige projecten en organisaties,
de Medialounge.

'Mediavla' is een Duitse uitgave over de Nederlandse nieuwe media
cultuur. Het beschrijft in kort bestek de bestaande netwerken, en bevat
achtergrondartikelen over ondermeer Rob Johannesma, STEIM en het
Touchfestival en De Rijke/De Rooij junks.

Intuïtieve interfaces die zijn toegesneden op de doelgroep

6       IA      Centraal Museum

Waag Society ontwerpt het concept voor een innovatieve website voor
het Centraal Museum waar vanuit het Rietveld Schröderhuis wordt
ontsloten.De inzet is om ook overige Rietveld collecties in deze on line
omgeving onder te brengen. De interactieve site zal informatie bevatten
over de historische context van het project en ruimte geven aan de
verhalen en bijdragen van bezoekers.

7       SP      KeyStroke

KeyStroke is een van de hoofdpresentaties tijdens Digifest in
Toronto, Canada. 
20-26 maart: digitale-mediafestival voor animatie, gaming, internet, 3-D
modellen etc.

Marijn van der Jagt, theaterrecensente van ondermeer de
Volkskrant, schrijft over de eerste ervaringen van theatermakers met
KeyStroke in het maartnummer van Zichtlijnen.

8       SP      Robots en rijstkokers

Shu Lea Cheang verbindt in haar installaties en webkunst fysieke en
virtuele omgevingen. Als mentor bij de post-doc opleiding voor
theatermakers Das Arts werkt ze de komende tijd o.a. met KeyStroke en
Linker software in het programmablok HumanMaterialMachineFactor: voor
hackers, crackers, kong fu masters, robots en rijstkokers. Voor de

Internetpioniers
Naar aanleiding van het verschijnen van het boek Internetpioniers van
Monique Doppert, organiseert De Balie een debatavond. Aan de hand van
organisaties als XS4all, Hacktic en de De Digitale Stad, schetst Doppert
de ontwikkeling van Internet in Nederland. Voelt de jonge generatie van
Indymedia en squat.net zich nog geïnspireerd door de internet pioniers
van weleer? 
Een debat met Rop Gongrijp (grondlegger XS4ALL), Michael Polman (Antenna,
Nijmegen), Jaap Vermaas (Waag Society en ASCII), Lizet (Indymedia.nl)
onder leiding van Steven Lenos (IPP).

Voor altijd
Van 10 tm 21 maart vindt op de Nieuwmarkt in Amsterda een inleiding
op de lente plaats. 'Voor altijd' is een installatie van Marisca Voskamp.
Waag Society verzorgt op 20 maart een lentebode met Text FM, software van
Graham Harwood en Matthew Fuller waarmee sms-berichten worden omgezet in
spraak en uitgezonden via transistors.

Research and development into the permanent learning process

1       CL      Registration Golden Monkey's Tail

Registration has started for Dutch teacher training colleges who want to participate in the Golden Monkey's Tail. Teacher training colleges are involved in the support of the jury process of the best children's cd-rom and website of the year 2002. The selection takes place by children throughout the Netherlands. http://www.goudenapenstaart.nl

2       PR      Interface for the elderly and E-lab in Cyburg

On 18 February a so-called Digital Breeding Ground opened in the Amsterdam-Zeeburg region: Cyburg. Waag Society develops a userfriendly interface for the elderly which will be part of the Cyburg project portfolio. The first phase of the project has started in co-operation with the Flevohuis, a home for the elderly. Waag Society is also involved in the setting-up of E-lab, a virtual centre bringing together the expertise of providers. http://www.cyburg.org

3       PR      Russian Tour

Commissioned by Waag Society, programmer Ilya Nikanorov will go on a fact-finding mission to St. Petersburg and Moscow. He will visit organisations and individuals working in the arts, culture and technology and introduce to them the database for small scale projects and organisations, the Medialounge. http://www.medialounge.net

Customized userfriendly interfaces

6       Centraal Museum

Waag Society develops the concept for an innovative website for Centraal Museum Utrecht with which the Rietveld Schröder House will go on line. Other Rietveld collections are meant to be included in the site as well. The interactive website will offer information on the historical context of the project and allow visitors to contribute their views.

KeyStroke is one of the main attractions of Digifest in Toronto, Canada. The fest is held from 20 to 26 March and showcases animations, gaming, Internet, 3-D models etc.http://www.dxnet.net

8       Robots and ricecookers

In her installations and web art Shu Lea Cheang connects physical en virtual environments. As mentor of the post-doc course for performers Das Arts, in the coming months she'll work with a.o. Net pioneers / De Balie salon

De Balie brings together two generations of Internet activists after the book launch of Internetpioniers by Monique Doppert. In the book, Doppert reviews the emergence of organisations like XS4ALL, Hacktic and the Digital City Amsterdam (DDS).
Is the Indymedia and squat generation inspired by the Internet pioneers of the early eighties?

Waag Society brings an early spring message in the form of TEXT FM, software by Graham Harwood and Matthew Fuller with which sms messages can be translated into speech to be broadcasted on radio.
