STEIM presents a seminar/discussion by composer/artist Elisabeth Schimana

Friday 19th. 17.00 - 19.30, STEIM 


Elisabeth Schimana [ Austria ] works in Eastern and Western Europe in many
fields including electronic music, performance, installation, festivals
and social experiments. In a special seminar at STEIM she will discuss
her work, both as a performer and composer, and as an organiser of
unique musical and social events. She currently resides in Moscow, while
studying for her post-graduate degree, teaching performance practice and
technology at the Theremin Institute. The seminar will conclude with a
discussion and presentation of the short film of `A village does
nothing`.

Recent projects include: 

`Sitting in my chair` - premiered at the Musik Protokol Festival last year,
this interactive multimedia work is to be presented within the STEIM concert 
series on Tuesday 16th at the Melkweg, in collaboration with Andrei Smirnov 
and Yuri Spitsin of the Theremin Institute.

`A village does nothing` - A small village in Austria was invited to do
nothing. Elisabeth, working with Markus Seidl, organised a week of
documenting an entire village doing none of the work they would usually
do during the week - many of them for the first time in their lives.

`Theremin Orchestra` - A shifting, constantly changing ensemble focused
on the Theremin as controller in conjunction with the voice.
