interessante man, die Jim Lobe; vanwege beperkte ruimte op TNI wel graag aanmelden als je komt Wilbert@tni.org 020-6626608 gr eveline From: "Transnational Institute" <news@tni.org> The neo-conservative worldview and current events in the Middle East Monday April 19, 20.00 - 21.30 Transnational Institute, Paulus Potterstraat 20 (opposite the Van Gogh Museum), Amsterdam Jim Lobe will give a short lecture on the basic elements of the neo- conservative worldview and on the recent events in the Middle East from a neo-conservative perspective. The lecture will be followed by an open discussion with participants. Lobe could possibly be credited as being the journalist who has covered the rise of the neo-conservative movement, including the PNAC, more than anyone else. Inter Press Service, the press agency Lobe works for (as Washington D.C. bureau chief), has compiled a focus area of all of his stories related to the neo-cons. It has dozens of stories, spanning a number of years. It looks to be invaluable resource for researching the background of the neo- conservative movement's power structure, as well as for following along with developments as they have occured over time. See a good intro to who neo-cons are at http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=15481 See all his articles on neo-cons at http://www.ipsnews.net/focus/neo-cons/index.asp His articles are frequently published also on these websites: www.antiwar.com; www.atimes.com; www.alternet.org; www.tompaine.com Recently, he also made a significant contribution to the BBC- documentary on neo-conservatism. At the Peoples Tribunal on Iraq (held in Brussels, April 14 to 17) he is asked to assume the interesting role of defending the Project for a New American Century, and to defend the neo-conservative worldview (www.brusselstribunal.org). . MONDAY 19 APRIL, 20.00 - 21.30 h. Open at 19.40 h.
