[Nettime-nl] [ STEIM ] Presentation Jorge Isaac: blockflutes & multimedia |
STEIM presents a lecture by Jorge Isaac: blockflutes & multimedia During this talk he will refer to the creative process of the multimedia production OMONIA and his approach to live electronics. Composer Roderik de Man (http://www.roderikdeman.com) and scenographer Nikolaas Vande Keere (UR architects), two of his artistic partners, will present as well their ideas towards multidisciplinary productions. Location: STEIM, Utrechtsedwarsstraat 134, Amsterdam Date: Tuesday April 4 2006 Time: 20:30 Entrance: free OMONIA is a multi-sided one man art performance about desire, obsession and the game of chance. OMONIA brings together music, theatre, video and live electronics. The project results in a multimedia unity through which the electroacoustic composition is the driving force of the performing form and the limits of musical expression in the theatrical space become visibly open. The performance is the presentation of three new music theatre works, specially composed for this project by the Dutch composers Roderik de Man and Arnoud Noordegraaf. OMONIA is performed by the recorder player/multimedia artist Jorge Isaac. A virtuosic recorder performance, and a rich musical context comprised of percussive electronic sounds, thick rhythmical structures and a grotesque musical aesthetic make up the musical layer. Video images are used as dynamic stage decor, as the materialisation of an evil Alter-ego, and as the medium of hallucinatory dreams. Through the unique combination of images and sound a combinatorial language is formed which allows for an understanding inside of interpretation and serves to create an unnerving whole- a crisp radiating music theatre performance. The tour 2005-2006 includes performances in The Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Italy and Venezuela. ::::NEXT PERFORMANCES:::: AMSTERDAM Muziekgebouw aan het 'IJ Thursday 6 april 2006, 20:30 uur reservations 020- 788 20 00 ALKMAAR Provadja Theater Thursday 13 april 2006, 20:15 uur reservations 072- 511 01 36 more info: http://www.visisonor.net Jorge Isaac (b. 1974, Caracas) completed his professional training under the tutelage of Walter van Hauwe at the Amsterdam Conservatory in 2000.
