Folkert Joore werkt altijd site-specific, en gebruikt het gegeven
ruimte als het medium en beelddrager van zijn werk.
De ruimte vormt het uitgangspunt, vergelijkbaar met een wit stuk
papier of een schildersdoek.
Vaak verwerkt Joore gevonden materialen in deze ruimte, zoals hout,
buizen, piepschuim en tape.
De aanwezige constructie en details bieden aanknopingspunten om op
voort te borduren, om te benadrukken, herschikken of vervormen.
Dit resulteert meestal in een transformatie van de ruimte die subtiel
aanwezig is, en een onoplettend oog kan bedriegen.
De MediumGallery heeft Folkert Joore gevraagd een context-afhankelijk
project te realiseren.
Zijn interpretatie hiervan zal hij realiseren in de tentoonstelling "BINNEN#2".

De MediumGallery is een kunstinitiatief gesitueerd in het trappenhuis
van een huurhuis net buiten de binnenstad van Groningen, opgericht in
2005.
Hoewel het op een standaard witte kubus lijkt, is die kubus niet
bepaald rechthoekig.
Dit confronteert exposerende kunstenaars met (on)mogelijkheden omtrent
de presentatie en uitvoering,
temeer omdat de MediumGallery kunstenaars verzoekt om een
context-afhankelijk project te realiseren.

Folkert Joore always works site-specific, and uses the (gallery)space
as the medium and carrier of his work.
The space works as a startingpoint, comparable with a white piece of
paper or canvas.
Joore additionally uses found materials suchs as, wood, piping,
Styrofoam and tape to process into this space.
The space's given construction and it's details are used as
referencepoints, which could be extrapolated, exaggerated, and
rearranged.
This usually results in a transformation of the space which is
present, but subtle enough to fool ones eyes.
The MediumGallery asked Folkert Joore to realize a context-dependant
project in the MediumGallery.
His interpretation of this assignment will be realised in the show:
"BINNEN#2" (translation from Dutch: INSIDE#2)

The MediumGallery is an art-initiative located in the staircase of a
social-housing unit in the North of the Netherlands, founded in 2005.
Although it resembles a standard white cube, it's not quite a rectangular one.
Invited artists will have to deal with numerous problems concerning
around how to display and
make works for the MediumGallery.
This partly because the organization of the MediumGallery asks of the
invited artist to realize a context-dependant artproject.
