Jumping the Shark is a phrase used by T.V producers to refer to the moment sitcoms turns bad. It comes from when the Fonz jumped over a shark in a pair of water skis in Happy Days, marking the beginning of a downward spiral from which it would never recover. It's the point when Monica and Chandler kiss, the day Del Boy and Rodney win the lottery. Moon Radio's launch weekend will be a programme of live broadcast utilizing video streaming technology and web based events, to create a whole weekend of online shows ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - The Commissions: We are offering 4 commissions for live pieces as part of the Moon Radio weekend. Where Everybody Knows Your Name The first commission is for ?800, and is for a new piece of work which uses web technology to look at meeting places in sitcoms. Odd Couples and Dirty Old Men The second commission is for ?500, and is for a live performance which explores the world of the sitcom couple. Artists will have access to a small studio with 2 camera set up. While artists are welcome to use pre-recorded video and multimedia as part of the piece, it is expected the piece will include a substantial performed element. Moon Radio is filmed before a live studio audience. Two smaller commissions of two hundred pounds each are also available to create an audio broadcast, and a live audio/video mixing piece, which will be performed in Broadway Bar as part of the Moon Radio weekend and simultaneously streamed live over the internet. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Brief for general submissions: We are seeking work that is made for / or explores Internet broadcast and artists looking for new ways to distribute their work.
