Syndicate: new French studies programme |
Dear Syndicate A new doctoral programme is about to be launched (opening this autumn) in France, jointly run by the Ecole sup?rieure de l'image (Esi, Angoul?me/ Poitiers) and the Universit? de Poitiers (Human and Social Sciences department). It consists of a one-year Dipl?me d'?tudes approfondies - a post-master's programme which, in the French system, constitutes the first phase of doctoral dissertation work - with PhD enrolment thereafter for those interested. Good knowledge of the French language is imperative - enough to follow the ground course (150 hours approximately), to submit the DEA (in French, to a French-speaking jury); thereafter, doctoral students may write their dissertation in English, but must provide a detailed summary in French and, likewise, ensure a "soutenance" (thesis defence) in French. The focus of the programme is a strange animal called "DIGITAL ARTS", which clearly means everything and nothing, but the school website has a description with areas of specialisation, notably being developed by the Ecole sup?rieure de l'image. The description includes information about prerequisites, admission process (selection based on a "dossier" submitted to a jury), and a course outline. Other information will be coming soon - formal validation from the university side is imminent, and will allow us to get into nitty gritty specs including deadlines and fees (by way of indication, these will probably be close to Esi's current fees, of ?540 per annum). url (when it works!!) : www.eesati.fr Please pass on this info to anyone who may be interested, with thanks sjn -----Syndicate mailinglist-------------------- Syndicate network for media culture and media art information and archive: http://www.v2.nl/syndicate to post to the Syndicate list: <syndicate@eg-r.isp-eg.de> to unsubscribe, write to <majordomo@eg-r.isp-eg.de>, in the body of the msg: unsubscribe syndicate your@email.adress
