I forward you the announcement about a "full immersion" workshop on digital
media to be held by a group of ten artists/teachers. The location is a
castle, equipped with ISDN lines and two medialab for audio and video
processing, by Castiglioncello/Toscany/Italy. Will be selected twenty
students to work during three weeks in June.
The admission  is free!

preliminary courses to the electronic scenes:
from multimedia interface to virtual scenography


Atelier della Costa Ovest organizes a training course adressed to twenty
people who, through a series of intensive workshops, conducted by artists,
designers and teachers coming from the Academy of Media Arts of Cologne
(one of the international more advanced schools in the research on arts,
communication and new media), will explore  new terms of the electronic
scenes. Digital technologies and particularly the telematic nets are
changing our perception and the knowledge of the space-time: an electronic
dimension emerges, within which it is possible to approach a new concept of
scenic space, as it has already happened with cinema and video.
One main aspect of these workshops is to carefully consider the idea of
interface, as the context that interacts with user's perception, in both,
off-line  works (cd-rom, for instance) as well as on-line ones (World Wide
Web).
Other aspects of research refer to all those new opportunities that the
digital technologies offer to the expansion of the concept of
representation, from tele-operations to  virtual scenographies.

The candidates at the courses must have the followings characteristics:
- born before 1979
- High School Degree
- unemployment certificate
The course is particularly adressed to students coming from Faculties of
Sciences of the Communication, Academies of Design, Academies of Fine Arts,
Faculty of Architecture.
Technical knowledges and creative talent for electronic experimentation
will be considered as well.

The duration of the course is 150 hours and the admission is free of charges.
At the end of the course the participants will receive a Certificate of
Attendance.

The admittance to the course is subordinate to a preliminary selection
consisting in:
- evaluation of the curriculum (qualifications)
- interview

People interested have to send, within May 10 1997, by registered letter,
the following
documentation:
- application
- copy of High School Degree
- letter attesting the unemployment
- self-portrait which could include photos, texts, curriculum vitae, etc.
- works (video, articles, projects, photos, computer works, hypertexts, etc.)
