EUROPEAN MEDIA ART FESTIVAL 7-11 MAY 1997 OSNABRâ? CK ------------------------------------------------------- Lectures The lectures, seminars and workshops of the festival are going to take place at the Forum of the Art Gallery Dominican Church Thu, 2 p.m., Forum Heiko Idensen and Olia Lialiana, Netfilm Net/Work/Narratives Inter-disciplinary and co-operative art forms in the Net represent the most interesting developments in the Internet. In the second part. Olia Lialiana will introduce her work with a lecture and presentation on "A.K. goes to Paradise". Her theory purports to show that "Net language is closer to Film than Video". The artist is also represented in the festival programme with her Internet project "My Boyfriend came back from the War". Thu, 4 p.m., Forum Irwin: Neue Slowenische Kunst - State in Time Marina Grzinic will present the work from the fine art group IRWIN, Ljubljana, Slovenia and it's project Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK) - State in Time. Since the 1990's one of the most attention-drawing projects of the Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK) movement, which consists of the music group LAIBACH, a theater group and the group IRWIN; ist the project NSK - State in Time. It was in the context of a paradigm of this kind that the NSK Embassies were realised. Fri, 1 p.m., Forum Net Criticism The subject of Net Criticism represents a thematic focal point in the EMAF seminares in 1997. After the Internet euphoria of last year, a critical stock-take concerning projects, developments and artistic perspectives is needed. Concepts and the relationship to other media forms, such as film and video, will be analysed from a variety of view points and complemented via considerations of a societal and philosophical nature. 1 p.m. From Speculative Media Theory to Net Criticism Lecture and discussion from and with Geert Lovink. 2 p.m. From Couch Potato to Screen Potato? Lecture and discussion from and with Herbert A. Meyer Coffee Break 3.30 p.m. Notes from a Virtual Butterfly Lecture and discussion from and with Merel Mirage This is a personal experience between the experience of the body and the experience of the mind interacting with VR. This led the artist to her latest work: subject: emotions encoded, a docudrama in Cyberspace in which two strangers meet and start an affair. Through the work she analyses how to deal with real emotions, born and developed in Cyberspace. But where have the feelings gone? Machiko Kusahara (Tokyo) will present the most recent productions from Japan where theever continuing link between computer games and the entertainment industry will be demonstrated using Japan's very popular comicculture as an example.
