The EMF/Leonardo Guide to the World ******************************** 1 - Afrique virtuelle : Les peintures de Rachel Malcolm Woods Pr�sent�es actuellement dans la section art ancien/art contemporain : Les peintures de Rachel Malcolm Woods Passionn�e par l'�tude des langages ideographiques, et guid�e par le d�sir d'acc�der ý une forme de communication visuelle universelle et porteur d'un message de paix, Rachel Malcolm Woods travaille depuis quelque temps sur le langage africain ejagham : le Nsibidi. Son oeuvre est le fruit de cette rencontre avec la culture africaine. A d�couvrir �galement dans la Galerie Virtuelle : les derni�res oeuvres du peintre et sculpteur Godefroy Kouassi. Inscrites dans le cycle "La Mis�re entour�e d'or", elles d�noncent l'exploitation de la main d'oeuvre africaine par les riches commer�ants de caf� et cacao. "Afrique Virtuelle "annonce la future participation de Michael Conner, Ray Silverman, et Louis Perrois : Michael Conner, professeur d'anthropologie ý l'Universit� d'Indiana, et son coll�gue Ray Silverman, examineront les r�percussion d'Internet sur l'�tude des cultures africaines. Louis Perrois, ethnologue fran�ais, ex-chercheur ý l'ORSTOM, est sp�cialis� dans les arts africains traditionnels. 2 - The EMF/Leonardo Guide to the World : http://www.emf.org/guidetotheworld/ Joel Chadabe (Electronic Music Foundation) et Roger Malina (Leonardo) annoncent le lancement du EMF/Leonardo Guide to the World. L'Electronic Music Foundation (EMF) et Leonardo, deux associations ý but non lucratif qui travaillent ý la promotion de la musique et de l'art actuels, viennent d'�tablir une collaboration pour d�velopper "l'EMF/Leonardo Guide du Monde". Ce "guide du monde" inclut le World Wide Calendar (Calendrier Mondial), des br�ves, un guide des ressources sur Internet, un guide d'Internet et des notices sur les partenaires. Le World Wide Calendar est compos� d'une base de donn�es en ligne et d'une mise ý jour mensuelle par email. Joel Chadabe, Pr�sident de l'Electronic Music Foundation d�clare : "Notre but est de fournir un service qui permet ý tout le monde de trouver ce qui se passe dans les domaines de la musique nouvelle, de la musique �lectronique, des arts m�dia et de toute forme nouvelle d'art partout dans le monde sans avoir ý passer des heures de recherche dans diff�rents sites web, ou de trier des listes et des listes de courrier �lectronique". Virtual Africa : The paintings of Rachel Malcolm Woods 2 - The EMF/Leonardo Guide to the World ********************** 1 - Virtual Africa : The paintings of Rachel Malcolm Wood Currently in the ancient art/contemporary art section : The paintings of Rachel Malcolm Woods Interested in the study of ideographical languages, guided by her desire to reach a universal form of visual communication which would carry a message of peace, Rachel Malcolm Woods is currently working on the ejagham African language : the Nsibidi. Her work is the result of this encounter with the African culture. Also in the Virtual Gallery : the recent works of the painter and sculptor Godefroy Kouassi. Belonging to the cycle "La mis�re entour�e d'or" (Misery surrounded by gold), they denounce the exploitation of African workers by the rich coffee and cacao traders. Soon in "Virtual Africa" : the coming participation of Michael Conner, Ray Silverman and Louis Perrois .Michael Conner, professor of anthropology at the University of Indiana, and his colleague Ray Silverman will discuss the effects of Internet on the study of African cultures. Louis Perrois, French ethnologist, previously researcher at ORSTOM, is a specialist of traditionnal African arts. 2 ? Electronic Music Foundation (EMF) and Leonardo, both not-for-profit organizations that serve music and art in today's world, have launched a collaboration to develop The EMF / Leonardo Guide to the World, which includes The World Wide Calendar, special features, a guide to internet resources, an Internet Directory, and notices from sponsors. The World Wide Calendar is a web-based calendar / database and monthly email update. As Joel Chadabe, President of Electronic Music Foundation, said, "Our goal is to make it possible for anyone in the world to find out what's happening at the cutting edge of new music, electronic music, media art, and related artforms ... anywhere in the world ... without investing hours in navigating different websites, sorting email messages, or scouring lists and more lists."
