Syndicate: admin - cross-posting from <nettime> |
folks, for those of us who are on several mailing lists, cross-posting is a regular phenomenon, sometimes annoying, sometimes funny, sometimes a confirmation of shared ideas, interests and concerns. the syndicate-list is closely related to <nettime> [see also info below], and the division between the two lists sometimes blurs. or messages relate to the shared middleground, which is why they get posted to both (and other) lists. there is a sense of difference, with nettime leaning more towards net-critical and general media-political issues, while the syndicate is more culturally oriented. but esp. in times like these, such a distinction obviously becomes inoperable a lot of the time. there is still a significant difference it seems between the subscribers of the two lists, so in some cases cross-posting should be OK - at least, nobody ever complains about it to me, save for some list-junkies. greetings. -a ps: from <nettime> Star Tribune, Monday, May 17, 1999 News with a View: When will the media call it war? Norman Solomon <...> On the last Sunday in April, the lead front-page article in the New York Times started this way: "NATO began its second month of bombing against Yugoslavia today with new strikes against military targets that disrupted civilian electrical and water supplies . . ." This is in sync with a remarkable concept that has been widely promoted by U.S. officials: While the bombing disrupts "civilian" electricity and water, the targets are "military." <...> --- # distributed via nettime-l : no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a closed moderated mailinglist for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: majordomo@desk.nl and "info nettime-l" in the msg body # URL: http://www.desk.nl/~nettime/ contact: nettime-owner@desk.nl ------Syndicate mailinglist-------------------- Syndicate network for media culture and media art information and archive: http://www.v2.nl/syndicate to unsubscribe, write to <syndicate-request@aec.at> in the body of the msg: unsubscribe your@email.adress
