PROTECTION CONCERNS IN ALBANIA FOR KOSOVAR WOMEN AND CHILDREN 
REFUGGES

Tirana May 29, 1999

Women's Center invite in this conference national and international 
agencies that operate in Albania with different projects, women 
refugees living in the camps/Albanian families.

The aim of the conference is to sensitize Albanian and 
international public opinion for the living conditin of refugees in 
Albania and especially for women and children, ways of their 
surviving, problems that they are facing, services that are provide 
for them, international human rights standarts for women and children 
refugees.

This conference will cover these topics:
*Protection issues concerning women and children, local NGOs and 
refugees women will represent findings on issues of concern in the 
refugee context: camps/host families, treatment of sexual violence 
cases, access to services including reproductive health and 
psychosocial programs, international convection's and UNHCR guide 
lines on the protection of refugee woman;

*Local capacities response, in which local women NGOs will discuss 
programs that have been developed to address the concerns raised 
above and also including more sensitive topics of lack of 
collaboration with international NGOs etc;

*Minimum condition for return, will be discussed minimum conditions 
that we can all advocate on the ground before any movement of Kosova 
refugees, can start returning to KOsova

In the conference will partecipate Vjosa Dobruna, Director of the Women and 
Children Rights Center (Kosova/Prishtina)
and also Julie Mertus J.D.  from Women's Commision for refugee Women 
and Children.
